Cooinoo

springtime air
drowns with sadness
my old home

Long Ago

always the moonlit yearning
kiss unknown and unimagined
me the ghostly refractive ring
goodnight illumined

August Down South

Cold’s little hands
invading interstices
insidiously

Sleepless

the night hours still count
dragging on as they do
directionless
unloved
but never to return
and thus to be embraced

snuffling congested breaths
the pendulum
enumerating this time
my little girl
deep in her dreams
will not remember soothing me
as I trudge toward dawn

The Garden

the garden we thought of planting
arches higher each season
shading with dreams
the empty weeds

Umbrella Tree

a rainbow of lorikeets
chattering helplessly
sodden
with the evil red berries

Departure

there will be a last storm
flickering intent
adrenaline raised
towers to heaven
ecstatic torrents
and then I will be gone

Nightcliff

sun
spray
and showers
soulbird skims
the olive sea

Sleep-In

hands clasped on my cheek
unknown which is hers
and which mine
in this languid rest

East Point

monsoon looms
across the muddy bay
